The primary focus of the Long Range Planning Program is to implement the Ukiah Valley General Plan (adopted in December 1995), consisting of seven mandated Elements, and seven optional Elements (including a State-certified Housing Element).
Completion of specific projects which, to date, have emanated from the goals, policies, and implementation measures contained in the general plan, including the Ukiah Airport Master Plan and Comprehensive Land Use Plan, the Landscaping and Streetscape Design Guidelines, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, Commercial Development Design Guidelines, the Riverside Park Master Plan and phase 1 development, and the Stream and Creek Enhancement Plans for Gibson, Orr, and Doolin Creeks.
The staff also develop, implement and/or assist in the creation of special programs and projects related to long range community development, such as the Airport Industrial Park Planned Development, the Orr Creek Bridge and Orchard Avenue extension, annexation studies and maintenance of the Zoning Code to reflect current State law and modern planning principles.
Additionally, the staff coordinates and collaborates with the County of Mendocino in regards to the Ukiah Valley Area Plan, and to projects and programs in the unincorporated area affecting the City of Ukiah.
