Lake Mendocino Hydroelectric Plant

Ukiah's Lake Mendocino Hydroelectric Plant, located at the outlet conduit for Coyote Dam, became operational in 1986. It contains two turbine/generator units, one 1,000-kilowatt unit and one 2,500-kilowatt unit.

The City of Ukiah is responsible for maintaining and operating the hydroelectric plant. The dam and structures are operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The National Marine Fisheries Service controls water release through the dam's outlet conduit, needed for the generation of electricity.
