Sundays in the Park

Sundays in the Park Lineup & Information Page

The Sundays In The Park Free Concert Series is the largest and most recognized community event in Mendocino County. Since 1991, the series has thrilled the community with exceptional musical performances by artists from diverse genres including blues, classical, country, salsa, soul, rock, swing and more. Each summer, taking center stage in beautiful Todd Grove Park, six free concerts featuring world-renowned artists as well as local talent, entertain more than 20,000 music fans. In addition to great entertainment, the series is a source of great civic pride and is cherished by locals and visitors as a summer tradition. Sponsorships from local businesses are a vital component to the continued success of Sundays In The Park and without their support; the free concerts wouldn’t be possible. Pack a picnic or indulge in fabulous food prepared by vendors who are onsite with everything from barbequed tri-tip to sushi. Bring a blanket and gather with your family, friends and neighbors to enjoy top notch performers while being part of the greater Ukiah community. (Please, no pets and no smoking within the main event area, low-back chairs only, personal BBQ’s only allowed at the picnic table areas. Thank you.) Concerts begin at 6pm. For more information please call 707-463-6231.

Ukiah Country PumpkinFest

Pumpkin FestClick here for details and entry forms for this year's Pumpkinfest.

The Country PumpkinFest is the largest street fair in Mendocino County.  This annual two-day event is held each fall in the month of October. Along with a variety of delicious foods, the streets of Downtown Ukiah are filled with craft vendors, fine arts exhibits, and "Scarecrow City". Enjoy live music, a haunted house, the Scout-o-Rama, pet costume classes, the Deep Valley Brew & Wine Festival, and the ever-popular children's carnival including many games and amusements. Join the parade, compete in the 3-on-3 hoop tourney, enter into the Pumpkin Baking Contest or show off your green thumb by entering the giant pumpkin weigh-off! For event dates, deadline or more information regarding Pumpkinfest call the City of Ukiah at 707-463-6231 or go to the Pumpkinfest web page.

Big pumpkins are exciting! They are fun to look at and they make wonderful jack-o'-lanterns. Len Stellpflog (well known in pumpkin circles) suggests carved big pumpkins last longer if you stand them on the stem end. This is due to the stem end being approximately twice the thickness of the opposite end. When the heavier end is up, they collapse in about a week, especially if broad areas have been carved away.

Howard Dill of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada started the strain of seeds known as The Atlantic Giant. By 1979 the world was beginning to pay attention to these giants and today many of the world's top growers are women. The giant pumpkins ranged from 963 lbs. to 887.5 lbs.!

All computer buffs will be happy to know that a pumpkin web site has been installed on the World Wide Web. To access all the information and news about giant pumpkins, go to http://www.giantpumpkins.com
